3 reasons why Ethereum price is still pinned below $1,900

Image
PayPal’s stablecoin announcement and a handful of Ether ETF applications are bulls’ biggest hopes for a price trend reversal. Ether (ETH) price has been locked within a tight trading range spanning from $1,800 to $1,900 since July 21. This remarkable lack of volatility has instilled a sense of uncertainty and skepticism among investors, despite recent positive developments which include the launch of PayPal's Ethereum-based stablecoin, and a surge in requests for Ether-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs). PayPal's entrance into the world of cryptocurrencies could signify a major step toward mainstream adoption for Ethereum. However, this move also raises concerns about centralization and the potential loss of control over personal assets. At the same time, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has recently witnessed a surge in applications for Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which mirrors a trend of major asset management firms seeking to establish spo...

4 things that can spark the next Bitcoin bull cycle

Image
Bitcoin is down 15% from its 2023-highs, but $40,000 may be closer than you think due to several important factors. Bitcoin (BTC) has dropped nearly 15% from its yearly high of around $31,000, with the recent regulatory crackdowns on Coinbase and Binance crypto exchanges and the Federal Reserve's hawkish forward guidance accelerating its selloff. Still, Bitcoin is up 60% year-to-date (YTD), holding above a technical support level of $25,000. Moreover, a new bull cycle can begin for a few reasons. Bitcoin halving The next Bitcoin halving, a pre-programmed event that slashes the cryptocurrency's supply rate by half every four years, is in April 2024. The previous three Bitcoin halvings (2012, 2016, 2020) have all preceded massive BTC price rallies and new all-time highs. For instance, BTC is up 276% since the previous halving in May 2020.  Bitcoin price performances since the last three halvings. Security or not, Ethereum price looks poised to hold the $1.8K level based on 3 key metrics

Image
Ethereum could eventually fall afoul of the SEC, but at the moment, key data points suggest ETH is poised to hold the $1,800 level. Ether’s (ETH) price retested $1,780 after the news of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission suing cryptocurrency exchanges Binance and Coinbase but it’s not preposterous to suggest that Ether bulls should be more than happy that its price did not break below the 67-day support.  The SEC actions are actually a double-edged sword for Ethereum and on crypto Twitter, some analysts attributed the bounce in Ether as a result of it not being listed as a security in either of the cases brought against Binance and Coinbase. For instance, the SEC explicitly mentioned BNB, Solana (SOL) and Cardano (ADA), which are direct competitors to Ethereum’s smart contract processing capabilities. However, as noted by analyst Jevgenijs Kazanins, Ether’s omission does not mean that it has the green light from the SEC. SEC did not mention #ETH in the list of tokens that i...

Dogecoin soared 23,000% in 2021 — Is history starting to repeat for DOGE price?

Image
Dogecoin's 2021 and 2023 price rallies have largely been sparked by Elon Musk but the latter still has much more room to run if history repeats. The price of Dogecoin (DOGE) has almost doubled after bottoming out at $0.0491 in June 2022, alongside a similar recovery across the cryptocurrency market. On April 20, DOGE is trading for as high as $0.0942, up around 94% versus the last year's bottom. But, despite its impressive rebound, its price is still 88% below its all-time high of $0.76 set in May 2021.  Thus, the DOGE/USD pair remains far from establishing a decisive bullish reversal on longer timeframes. Ironically, DOGE/USD topped after Musk called it a "hustle" during his Saturday Night Live appearance in May 2021. DOGE price entered a prolonged long bearish cycle, furthered by the...

Why is Litecoin price up today?

Image
Litecoin is the winner in daily crypto gains as whales appear to be behind the ongoing LTC price rally, on-chain data suggests. Litecoin (LTC) emerged as one of the best-performing cryptocurrencies on March 23, surpassing its top-ranking rivals Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH).  Litecoin attracts Bitcoin and Ethereum investors LTC price rallied 5.5% to reach an intraday high of around $92.50. In comparison, the total crypto market capitalization (TOTAL) has risen 2.25% to $1.14 trillion, with BTC and ETH rising 1.79% and 1.42%, respectively. The Federal Reserve's 25 basis points (bps) rate hike on March 22 appears to be the key driver behind Litecoin beating its crypto rivals over the past 24 hours. Notably, LTC price rallied over 15% versus BTC and about 14.5% versus ETH since the Fed announcement. LTC/ETH and LTC/BTC daily price chart. Bitcoin price surge: Breakthrough or bull trap? Pundits weigh in

Bitcoin nearly broke its record for the longest streak of daily green price candles this month, but many believe its recent surge could be short-lived. While Bitcoin (BTC) has experienced a strong price pump to kick off the new year, many industry pundits are not convinced the cryptocurrency will continue its upward trajectory — at least in the short to mid-term.  The impressive price surge — which saw BTC experience 14 days of consecutive price increases earlier this month — has called on many to consider whether the surge marks a significant “breakthrough” or is indicative of a “bull trap.” Speaking to Cointelegraph on Jan. 23, James Edwards — a cryptocurrency analyst at Australian-based fintech firm Finder — said the argument for a “bull trap” is stronger, warning the recent surge could be “short-lived.” He stated that while the BTC price moved upwards over the weekend, the NASDAQ Composite and the S&P 500 also made similar rallies: “This suggests to me that the rally in crypto...

BTC price forms new support at $16.8K as Bitcoin lures 'mega whales'

Image
A new 100-week "point of control" is appearing below $17,000 as the age-old Bitcoin trading range endures. Bitcoin (BTC) could be busy forming fundamental support in its current tight trading range, the latest research suggests. In a tweet on Jan. 6, trading platform Trend Rider noticed that $16,800 is becoming an increasingly important BTC price support zone. Point of control establishing below $17,000? Bitcoin’s lack of volatility has led commentators to debate when a breakout could occur — and in what direction it could go. So far, however, the increasingly narrow trading range in place since the FTX saga in November remains in control. Now, on-chain analysis is hinting that, contrary to some beliefs, BTC/USD may not have further to fall in the current phase of the bear market. Trend Rider eyed the one-week chart to flag $16,800 as the current 100-week point of control (PoC) — the price level generating the largest volume in the specific period. The longer the period and...
