Bitcoin is witnessing profit-booking near $38,000, but the correction is likely to be shallow as lower levels are likely to attract buyers. Bitcoin (BTC) has started the week on a negative note. The failure of the bulls to pierce and sustain above the $38,000 resistance has given a small window of opportunity for the bears to try and make a comeback. Strong selling has pulled the price below $37,000 on Nov. 27. However, lower levels are likely to attract buyers as the bulls will want to maintain the momentum going into the final month of the year. The bears are likely to have other plans as they will attempt to deepen the correction. That could boost volatility in the last few days of November as both the bulls and the bears try for a monthly closing in their favor. Daily cryptocurrency market performance. Spot Bitcoin ETF: Why this time is different

Image
The latest Cointelegraph Report explains everything you need to know about a potential spot Bitcoin ETF approval in the U.S., its impact on the market, and its significance for the crypto industry. A wave of optimism around the potential approval of a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) in the United States has ignited bullish price action in the crypto market in recent weeks.  But that could be just the beginning: If a spot Bitcoin ETF receives a greenlight by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), it would mark a major milestone in the history of digital assets. The spot Bitcoin ETF will provide institutional investors with a simple and regulated way to get exposure to Bitcoin with potentially explosive consequences for the Bitcoin market. According to many analysts, a spot Bitcoin ETF could spark a demand shock that, coupled with next year's Bitcoin halving event, could spark the new crypto bull market. The SEC has so far rejected all spot Bitcoin ETF applicat...

3 reasons why Ethereum price is still pinned below $1,900

Image
PayPal’s stablecoin announcement and a handful of Ether ETF applications are bulls’ biggest hopes for a price trend reversal. Ether (ETH) price has been locked within a tight trading range spanning from $1,800 to $1,900 since July 21. This remarkable lack of volatility has instilled a sense of uncertainty and skepticism among investors, despite recent positive developments which include the launch of PayPal's Ethereum-based stablecoin, and a surge in requests for Ether-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs). PayPal's entrance into the world of cryptocurrencies could signify a major step toward mainstream adoption for Ethereum. However, this move also raises concerns about centralization and the potential loss of control over personal assets. At the same time, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has recently witnessed a surge in applications for Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which mirrors a trend of major asset management firms seeking to establish spo...

Price analysis 6/28: BTC, ETH, BNB, XRP, ADA, DOGE, SOL, LTC, MATIC, DOT

Bitcoin and several altcoins are stuck in a tight range, indicating that a breakout is brewing. A large part of the recent leg of Bitcoin’s (BTC) rally started after BlackRock filed to list a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) on June 15. Several applications by other firms have been rejected by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in the past. However, BlackRock’s filing has a 50% possibility of getting approved, said Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas.  Another bullish catalyst for the cryptocurrency markets could be a filing by asset manager Fidelity Investments to launch its Bitcoin spot ETF. CoinShares Chief Strategy Officer Meltem Demirors said that firms managing $27 trillion of assets are “actively” pursuing efforts to allow their clients exposure in the crypto space. Security or not, Ethereum price looks poised to hold the $1.8K level based on 3 key metrics

Image
Ethereum could eventually fall afoul of the SEC, but at the moment, key data points suggest ETH is poised to hold the $1,800 level. Ether’s (ETH) price retested $1,780 after the news of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission suing cryptocurrency exchanges Binance and Coinbase but it’s not preposterous to suggest that Ether bulls should be more than happy that its price did not break below the 67-day support.  The SEC actions are actually a double-edged sword for Ethereum and on crypto Twitter, some analysts attributed the bounce in Ether as a result of it not being listed as a security in either of the cases brought against Binance and Coinbase. For instance, the SEC explicitly mentioned BNB, Solana (SOL) and Cardano (ADA), which are direct competitors to Ethereum’s smart contract processing capabilities. However, as noted by analyst Jevgenijs Kazanins, Ether’s omission does not mean that it has the green light from the SEC. SEC did not mention #ETH in the list of tokens that i...

Ethereum traders show uncertainty ahead of today’s Shapella hardfork: Report

Image
Ether’s market performance and derivatives metrics have lagged behind Bitcoin, possibly due to traders’ expectation of heavy sell pressure after the Shapella upgrade. The Ethereum network’s Shapella upgrade, scheduled for around 6:30 pm EST on April 12, has induced significant uncertainty among traders, according to a report by Kaiko.  The upgrade will enable staked-ETH withdrawals from the Beacon Chain for the first time since its launch in December 2020. According to previous estimates, the upgrade will add nearly 1.2 million to 3 million worth of ETH selling pressure in the first few weeks. This is one of the main reasons traders appear to be taking a cautious stance ahead of the upgrade. Kaiko’s report shows that ETH is lagging behind BTC in spot and Futures trading volumes, while options market data shows traders are actively adding short-term hedging positions. Ether displays muted trading data Ethereum market share in USD trading volume compared to Bitcoin declined to Marc...

How will the Shanghai upgrade impact ETH price? Expert explains

While it may cause downside pressure in the short run, the Shanghai upgrade will be extremely bullish for Ether's price in the mid-to-long term, according to Vivek Raman. While it may have some short-term negative impact on the price of Ether (ETH), the upcoming Shanghai upgrade will be extremely bullish for Ethereum's native token, as it will attract more capital to staking and increase the network's security, according to Ethereum researcher Vivek Raman.  The Shanghai upgrade , scheduled for April 12, will allow network validators to withdraw funds that have been locked to secure the network since December 2020. The upgrade will complete the network’s transition to a proof-of-stake system, which started last October with the Merge. Around 18 million ETH will be available for withdrawal following Shanghai. According to Raman, that may lead to some selling pressure on ETH's price in the short term. However, in the long run, the ability to unstake Ether will “de-risk...

Why is Litecoin price up today?

Image
Litecoin is the winner in daily crypto gains as whales appear to be behind the ongoing LTC price rally, on-chain data suggests. Litecoin (LTC) emerged as one of the best-performing cryptocurrencies on March 23, surpassing its top-ranking rivals Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH).  Litecoin attracts Bitcoin and Ethereum investors LTC price rallied 5.5% to reach an intraday high of around $92.50. In comparison, the total crypto market capitalization (TOTAL) has risen 2.25% to $1.14 trillion, with BTC and ETH rising 1.79% and 1.42%, respectively. The Federal Reserve's 25 basis points (bps) rate hike on March 22 appears to be the key driver behind Litecoin beating its crypto rivals over the past 24 hours. Notably, LTC price rallied over 15% versus BTC and about 14.5% versus ETH since the Fed announcement. LTC/ETH and LTC/BTC daily price chart. Ethereum price resistance at $1,750 could reflect traders’ anxiety over the Shanghai upgrade

Image
Holding gains above $1,750 remains a challenge for ETH, but derivatives data shows traders believe future downside moves will be limited to the most immediate price support. The price of Ether (ETH) declined 9.8% between Feb. 19 and Feb. 25 after the price resistance at $1,725 proved stronger than expected. Still, the correction was insufficient to break the 6-week-long ascending channel and did not cause Ether derivatives metrics to turn bearish. Ether (ETH) price index in USD, 1-day. Source: TradingView Ether's price resilience can be partially explained by the operational failure of some of its smart contract blockchain competitors. For instance, Solana (SOL) faced a 20-hour-long outage on Feb. 25, which was only resolved after a network upgrade coordinated by validators. The network restart also involved purging some of the latest slots, although Solana developers said that "no confirmed user transactions were rolled back or impacted." NEM (XEM) experienced a ...

Price analysis 1/9: SPX, DXY, BTC, ETH, BNB, XRP, DOGE, ADA, MATIC, LTC

DXY is cooling off and crypto and equities are starting to heat up. Cointelegraph explores how BTC and altcoins could react to the current bullish momentum in the market. Investors across asset classes have been keeping a close watch on the United States Federal Reserve’s monetary policy because that sets the stage for a risk-on or a risk-off environment.  The strong rally in the U.S. stock Markets on Jan. 6 and in Cryptocurrencies over the weekend suggests that market observers anticipate the Fed to slow down its frantic pace of rate hikes. The optimism was fuelled by the greater-than-expected slowdown in wage gains in the December jobs report and the first contraction in U.S. services industry activity since May 2020. The next trigger that may influence the Markets could be the Consumer Price Index data due on Jan. 12. Daily cryptocurrency market performance.
