Bitcoin is witnessing profit-booking near $38,000, but the correction is likely to be shallow as lower levels are likely to attract buyers. Bitcoin (BTC) has started the week on a negative note. The failure of the bulls to pierce and sustain above the $38,000 resistance has given a small window of opportunity for the bears to try and make a comeback. Strong selling has pulled the price below $37,000 on Nov. 27. However, lower levels are likely to attract buyers as the bulls will want to maintain the momentum going into the final month of the year. The bears are likely to have other plans as they will attempt to deepen the correction. That could boost volatility in the last few days of November as both the bulls and the bears try for a monthly closing in their favor. Daily cryptocurrency market performance. Polygon gas fees spike 1000% amid Ordinals-inspired token craze

Image
Gas fees on the Polygon network reached as high as $0.10 during a mad rush to mint an Ordinals-inspired token called POLS. Gas fees on Ethereum layer-2 Polygon (MATIC) surged more than 1,000% to reach a peak of $0.10 as users inundated the network with the minting of Ordinals-inspired token s dubbed POLS.  In a Nov. 16 X (formerly Twitter) post Polygon founder Sandeep Nailwal shared his surprise at the elevated transaction activity on the network saying the spike could’ve been due to the launch of a new Polygon-based nonfungible token (NFT) collection. What is going on on @0xPolygon POS chain? 6m transactions in last 24 hrs. 170 TPS on average. 1mn+ MATIC burnt by the protocol. The chain worked smoothly, gas fees went crazy though but no reorgs or 0 blocks etc. I hear there is some game Baby Shark Launching, could that be the… — Sandeep Nailwal | sandeep. polygon (@sandeepnailwal) November 16, 2023 The reason for the uptick in network activity and sudden spike in gas fees seems ...

Bitcoin price will continue dwarfing Ethereum, top crypto analyst says

Image
Into The Cryptoverse CEO Benjamin Cowen recently discussed Ethereum’s (ETH) performance in relation to Bitcoin’s (BTC) dominance as the flagship digital asset. In a recent YouTube video, Cowen suggests a continued rise in Bitcoin dominance (BTC.D), indicating that Ethereum may lag behind and show smaller gains compared to BTC.  Cowen explains that his crypto portfolio has predominantly held more Bitcoin because he anticipates that BTC will outperform numerous assets, though not all.  Additionally, Cowen notes that Ethereum against Bitcoin (ETH/BTC) is encountering substantial resistance after falling below the trendline and attempting a retest. Ethereum, Bitcoin users reignite scalability debate as gas fees surge

Image
Ethereum gas fees reportedly breached the $200-mark for certain high-priority transactions in the last 24 hours. A recent spike in transaction fees on Ethereum and Bitcoin appears to have reignited the debate around solutions for scalability and the role of layer 2s. Over the last 24 hours, cryptocurrency users began sharing screenshots showing double, occasionally triple-digit transaction fees on Ethereum and Bitcoin. One screenshot showed gas fees were as high as $220 for a high-priority transaction on Ethereum while other screenshots showed figures around the $100 mark. Bitcoin users meanwhile, reported fees that were around $10 for high-priority transactions. While this is relatively low, the average Bitcoin (BTC) transaction cost has hovered around $1 over the last three months, according to BitInfoCharts. BTC fees haven’t been this high since May. #Saitama #SaitaRealty To Add to Below Post This isn't even Height of Bull Run Already #ETH Gas Fees are Extortionate $175.79 T...

ETH Price Faces A 17% Drop If Rectangle Pattern Support Breaks

Image
The leading smart contracts token tumbled from support at $1,800 last week amid a market-wide sell-off that saw Bitcoin price drop from its range support at $29,000, before seeking support at $25,000. advertisement Ethereum came under heavy selling pressure, as traders swiftly switched to short positions that left many investors liquidated. Support that had been anticipated in the region between $1,780 and $1,800 due to the presence of the 200-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) did little to stop bears from pushing the price lower. Trading below the upper dotted ascending trendline, which had provided support since November 2022, following the FTX exchange implosion enhanced the bearish sentiments, and thus encouraged traders to sell more. 3 reasons why Ethereum price is still pinned below $1,900

Image
PayPal’s stablecoin announcement and a handful of Ether ETF applications are bulls’ biggest hopes for a price trend reversal. Ether (ETH) price has been locked within a tight trading range spanning from $1,800 to $1,900 since July 21. This remarkable lack of volatility has instilled a sense of uncertainty and skepticism among investors, despite recent positive developments which include the launch of PayPal's Ethereum-based stablecoin, and a surge in requests for Ether-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs). PayPal's entrance into the world of cryptocurrencies could signify a major step toward mainstream adoption for Ethereum. However, this move also raises concerns about centralization and the potential loss of control over personal assets. At the same time, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has recently witnessed a surge in applications for Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which mirrors a trend of major asset management firms seeking to establish spo...

Bitcoin and several altcoins are stuck in a tight range, indicating that a breakout is brewing. A large part of the recent leg of Bitcoin’s (BTC) rally started after BlackRock filed to list a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) on June 15. Several applications by other firms have been rejected by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in the past. However, BlackRock’s filing has a 50% possibility of getting approved, said Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas.  Another bullish catalyst for the cryptocurrency markets could be a filing by asset manager Fidelity Investments to launch its Bitcoin spot ETF. CoinShares Chief Strategy Officer Meltem Demirors said that firms managing $27 trillion of assets are “actively” pursuing efforts to allow their clients exposure in the crypto space. Security or not, Ethereum price looks poised to hold the $1.8K level based on 3 key metrics

Image
Ethereum could eventually fall afoul of the SEC, but at the moment, key data points suggest ETH is poised to hold the $1,800 level. Ether’s (ETH) price retested $1,780 after the news of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission suing cryptocurrency exchanges Binance and Coinbase but it’s not preposterous to suggest that Ether bulls should be more than happy that its price did not break below the 67-day support.  The SEC actions are actually a double-edged sword for Ethereum and on crypto Twitter, some analysts attributed the bounce in Ether as a result of it not being listed as a security in either of the cases brought against Binance and Coinbase. For instance, the SEC explicitly mentioned BNB, Solana (SOL) and Cardano (ADA), which are direct competitors to Ethereum’s smart contract processing capabilities. However, as noted by analyst Jevgenijs Kazanins, Ether’s omission does not mean that it has the green light from the SEC. SEC did not mention #ETH in the list of tokens that i...

Ethereum users are increasingly demanding self-custody: Casa CTO

Security expert Jameson Lopp said some users lost Ethereum tokens because of the lack of a secure storage method. The demand for Ethereum self-custody solutions is growing, according to Jameson Lopp, co-founder and chief technology officer of Bitcoin wallet provider Casa. In a conversation with Cointelegraph at Bitcoin 2023, Lopp stated that Casa has found it necessary to provide Ethereum support due to the increased number of Ethereum users seeking the service. Incidents like the collapse of FTX in 2022 have raised awareness of the need for a secure way to store Ethereum and Ethereum tokens such as stablecoins, Lopp said: “I’ve actually spoken to Casa clients who suffered losses as a result of some of the collapses last year. Those that kept their Bitcoin in Casa did well, but some of them ended up losing other things — even stablecoins, for example — because they didn’t have a way to put those into a distributed cold-storage setup.” In order to respond to this problem, Casa announce...

Ethereum traders show uncertainty ahead of today’s Shapella hardfork: Report

Image
Ether’s market performance and derivatives metrics have lagged behind Bitcoin, possibly due to traders’ expectation of heavy sell pressure after the Shapella upgrade. The Ethereum network’s Shapella upgrade, scheduled for around 6:30 pm EST on April 12, has induced significant uncertainty among traders, according to a report by Kaiko.  The upgrade will enable staked-ETH withdrawals from the Beacon Chain for the first time since its launch in December 2020. According to previous estimates, the upgrade will add nearly 1.2 million to 3 million worth of ETH selling pressure in the first few weeks. This is one of the main reasons traders appear to be taking a cautious stance ahead of the upgrade. Kaiko’s report shows that ETH is lagging behind BTC in spot and Futures trading volumes, while options market data shows traders are actively adding short-term hedging positions. Ether displays muted trading data Ethereum market share in USD trading volume compared to Bitcoin declined to Marc...
